20-year-old Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga is in discussions over a new contract at Tottenham following an impressive breakthrough in north London.
The youngster has now featured against both Manchester City and Liverpool in such a short period of time, but despite his relative inexperience he is set for a wage rise of 1500% should he put pen to paper on new terms.
Currently on a weekly wage of £1k per week, he could earn £15k with potential incentives taking it up to a total of £20k a week.
Spurs fans took to Twitter to discuss the report which was published by the Daily Mail. However, some were incredibly alarmed by the fact he was going to be paid such a little salary.
A host of supporters threw out suggestions for what he should earn. One fan went as far as calling for the versatile defender to earn as much as £100k. A further individual took the time to slate Tanguy Ndombele, claiming Tanganga should get a salary of £60k.
Considering he’s played just three Premier League matches these are huge claims but it shows just how highly some fans rate the youngster.
Others focused on the £1k a week the young player is currently earning at Tottenham. Considering he was still only in the youth team before the turn of the year his salary is hardly surprising.
However, given his impressive form, winning a combined six aerial duels, tackles and interceptions against Liverpool a slight rise would be justified. On top of that, he won a total of ten defensive battles in a clash against Manchester City.

His impressive displays in such high profile games suggests he has what it takes to perform on a big stage so bewilderment around the pay packet he takes home at the moment is fair enough.
The fans below clearly seemed to think that the 6-foot defender should be on more than £1k.
Where Tanganga progresses from now will be fascinating to see. The 20-year-old clearly has a massive future ahead of him and a gentle increase is far more sensible than handing him a colossal wage as some fans above have suggested.
Meanwhile, Spurs COULD SIGN someone who was previously compared to Dybala…
