Cenk Tosun has struggled at Everton in the early stages of the 2018-19 campaign, and the Toffees should be looking to bring in West Ham United’s Javier Hernandez as competition for the centre-forward.
What’s the word, then?
West Ham picked up their first Premier League win of the season at Goodison Park on Sunday, with the Hammers running out 3-1 winners over a disappointing Everton.
The home side had a number of chances throughout the 90 minutes, but some poor finishing from Tosun made it a frustrating afternoon for the Merseyside club.
Oumar Niasse ultimately replaced Tosun in the second period, but he was also guilty of missing an excellent chance as Everton lost for the first time in the Premier League this season.
The Toffees have a number of talented attackers to call upon, but it would be fair to say that the club lacks an out-and-out goalscorer, and a bid for seemingly unwanted West Ham forward Hernandez should be made at the start of 2019.
Hernandez is not exactly thrilled with life at the London Stadium, and might fancy a change of scenery having also been heavily criticised by the West Ham fans this season.
Why should Everton sign Hernandez?
Hernandez might have found it difficult to show his best form at West Ham, but there is absolutely no question that the 30-year-old is a goalscorer.

Indeed, he netted 59 times in 158 matches for Manchester United, 39 in 76 games for Bayer Leverkusen, and also managed nine goals in 33 games for Real Madrid.
At West Ham, Hernandez has nine goals in 38 appearances in all competitions, which is a decent record when considering his problems at the London Stadium.
Hernandez has also managed 50 goals in 106 Mexico appearances, whilst a total of 45 goals in 135 Premier League matches shows that he knows how to score at this level.
Tosun desperately needs some help in the final third of the field, and Everton should launch a cut-price bid for Hernandez in the January transfer window.
