Ralph Hasenhuttl’s first match as Southampton boss ended in a 1-0 defeat at Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon.
The result left Southampton in 19th position in the Premier League table, having gathered just nine points from their 16 matches this term.
Goals have been a problem for the Saints this term, managing just 13 in their 16 league fixtures.
Charlie Austin netted seven Premier League goals for the club last season, but he has just one top-flight strike to his name this term.
And the Southampton fans were not best pleased with the 29-year-old following the disappointing defeat at Cardiff.
Indeed, a number of the club’s supporters have urged their new manager to get rid of Austin, who moved to St Mary’s from Queens Park Rangers in January 2016.
